May for me is generally the time at which I start switching from mammals and birds to insects. Often the first few bumblebees or butterflies start to search for the first few flowers.

The new botanic garden at Göttingen has a large amount of different types of bees. It is a place I really like to visit for taking pictures of bees, butterflies, and other insects. The range of different colours in the flowers offers great contrast to the bees. With this, I also started practicing some vignetting in my pictures to draw the attention closer to the action.

This picture was also shot at the new botanic garden in Göttingen. The garden does not only have a large amount of different bees but also very many butterflies. What I like in this picture is the colour difference between the bee, the butterfly and the flowers. All three show different colours in addition to the green background.
